Dephen Solutions LED Corn Light Bulbs

Dephen Solutions LED Corn Light Bulbs

One of the most popular solutions for updating HID industrial fixtures is the LED corn lamp. Now that's not a highly technical term, but it definitely makes the point. With a full array of LED "kernels", these powerful multi-purpose light bulbs are an easy and economic choice to bring your dingy lighting scene into the 21st century. There are three main categories of LED corn cob light bulbs and these can be broken down by their application. In today’s post, we’ll take a look at these applications and discuss all you need to know when choosing the right LED bulbs for your outdated HID fixtures.

LED Corn Lamps

The original style of LED corn lamps consists of LED diodes encircling the entirety of the light bulb, mimicking the original light source. These are going to be most useful in either post-top lighting or high bay reflector fixtures. With the advances in diode technology, you can now replace anything from a small 50 Watt metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp all the way up to the monster 1000 Watt and 1500 Watt lamp. Not sure what Kelvin temperature you want initially? No worries. You can now easily switch between 3000, 4000, and 5000 Kelvin in the field.

High Bay and Low Bay Retrofits

The second classification of LED retrofit lamps are specifically designed for high bay reflector fixtures. As opposed to the 360-degree nature of the lamps we considered before, these extremely efficient light bulbs direct every lumen straight down, ensuring that nothing gets lost inside the fixture. All the while, the design of the lamp allows for use of the original reflector that will distribute the light at the proper beam spread. Traditional light bulbs lose up to 30 percent of the lumen output, bouncing around inside these fixtures. Choosing this style of LED lamp for your high bay fixtures will ensure that every dollar spent will properly light up your area.

Wall Pack and Area Light Retrofits

Lastly, dephen.net offers LED corn lamps for wall packs, flood lights, and parking lot fixtures. The vast majority of these fixtures have a metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp, and then which is screwed in horizontally. Like the high bay fixture, up the 30 percent of the original lumen output is lost. This is why we recommend purchasing a directional corn comp lamp that is specifically made for these type of fixtures. All the diodes on these light bulbs are concentrated on one side only. This maximizes the distribution of lumens and aims them exactly where they need to go. Ranging from 3000 to 15,00 lumnes, we can confidently recommend that you consider these retrofit lamps for converting your 100 Watt up to 400 Watt wall packs, flood lights, or parking lot fixtures.

Important: To use any of these products, you'll need to have a qualified electrician remove the ballast that has been powering the fixture. This is a simple but necessary process and, again, should only be performed by an electrician.

In all three of these categories, you will be able to choose your medium or mobile based lamps, a large assortment of lumen outputs, and Kelvin temperatures ranging from 3000 Kelvin all the way to 5000 Kelvin. Ready to make the switch or need help finding the right options for your application? dephen.net has a dedicated team of professionals ready to help you make the correct purchase.

The History of Christmas Lights
The History of Christmas Lights

November 20, 2024

Ah, Christmastime! It sneaks up on me just about every year, but at the same time, I feel as though I am always anticipating its arrival. There is just something special about the crisp and colder temperatures, the festive music always on the radio, a crackling fire by the warm hearth and the aroma of hot-out-of-the-oven sugar cookies mingled with the scent of fresh-cut pine trees. And nothing makes me feel quite as happy as the beautiful twinkling of Christmas lights, strung from end-to-end on neighbor’s homes, throughout the town square, and around trees big and small in homes, yards, and stores just about everywhere in America.
