High bay emergency lighting is a battery-backed high bay lighting when the main power supply is cut out or for any other reasons, the light can be automatically turned on and serve as a evacuated illumination for people and escape from the dark commercial and residential buildings such as warehouse, workshop, garage etc.
We all know that there is exit sign light used as fire emergency lighting for commercial address, so why do I still need the high bay LED light with battery backup ?
Well, for large spaces with high ceiling, the distance between two walls might be far away, maybe over 20ft-30ft, the exit sign light wattage is generally small, ranging from 5W to 8W, its lumen output is about 400lm-600lm, cannot give out enough light to light up our way to get out of the room safely.
Therefore, it is better to equip some high bay light with battery backups for sufficient brightness to guarantee workers’ safety when suffering electricity failure.
How to have your low bay & high bay light with emergency battery ?
There are two main LED light fixtures that are commonly used for low bay and high bay lighting.
For the LED linear high bay light, 15W & 20W rectangular shape LED emergency battery driver are often applied working with 80W-320W linear high bay.
15W LED emergency backup driver for over 80W LED linear high bay light
20W LED emergency battery pack for over 180W LED linear high bay
The battery pack is installed and fixed at the back of the linear high bay fixtures and wired correctly according to the wiring diagram below.
Thus, when normal electrical illumination fails, the battery can drive the light and give some light to lead you out.
15W battery to power 80W 110W 150W 165W (can give out 1/6, 1/7, 1/10, 1/11 of their full brightness respectively)
20W battery to power 180W 200W 250W 320W (can give out 1/9, 1/10, 1/12, 1/16 of their full brightness respectively)
While for the UFO LED lights, a suspended cylinder shape emergency battery is typically used in the market.
30W LED emergency lighting battery pack for 100W-240W UFO high bay
300W-500W UFO high bay led light with 40W battery backup
30W UFO battery to power 100W 150W 200W 240W (can give out 1/3, 1/5, 1/7, 1/8 of their full brightness respectively)
40W UFO battey to power 300W 400W 500W (can give out 1/8, 1/10, 1/12 of their full brightness respectively)
There is an important reminder that the UFO high bay should be 1-10v dimmable, in other words, your UFO lights should have a dimmer wire (dim+ & dim- cables) except the hot and neutral, ground wires.
If your UFO LED fixtures don’t have that, then you cannot use the UFO battery for emergency lighting, the battery would be burned immediately when you force it to work.
Below is the UFO emergency backup driver for different input voltage.
100-277VAC
277-480VAC
